Integrity Icon in Nigeria
We have been able to inspire the adoption of integrity as an expected behaviour while working on our Integrity Icon Nigeria campaign. The courage and character our Icons show, and personal commitments to be persons of integrity, has strongly influenced places of work from police stations to magistrate courts.
In one example, Dr. Igbolo Magdalene, the Head of the Department of Sociology at the University of Abuja, was nominated by one of her students for her stand on academic integrity in the university. Following her win, she was promoted to Head of Department where she has ensured strict adherence to standards and provided an effective feedback mechanism for students who are potential victims of sextortion. Her annual orientation session at the department in collaboration with Accountability Lab Nigeria builds the capacity of students and unpacks the factors around leadership with integrity.
We have also equipped young aspiring filmmakers with critical filming and messaging skills needed to document accountability-related issues as part of our Integrity Icon Film Fellowship.
