Integrity Icon in Nigeria
We have been inspired public servants to uphold integrity through the Integrity Icon Nigeria campaign. The courage and character our Icons show, and personal commitments to be persons of integrity, has strongly influenced other people at their various places of work across the security, judiciary, health, education and procurement sectors.
In one example, Dr. Igbolo Magdalene, the Head of the Department of Sociology at the University of Abuja, was nominated by one of her students for her stand on academic integrity in the university. Following her win, she was promoted to Head of Department where she has ensured strict adherence to standards and provided an effective feedback mechanism for students who are potential victims of sextortion. Her annual orientation session at the department in collaboration with Accountability Lab Nigeria builds the capacity of students and unpacks the factors around leadership with integrity.
We have also equipped young aspiring filmmakers with critical filming and messaging skills needed to document accountability-related issues as part of our Integrity Icon Film Fellowship. We also supported young journalists and media practitioners with the tools and mindset for positive storytelling that reshape narratives and inspire meaningful change. By focusing on solutions-oriented journalism, the program has contributed to shifting the focus from problem-centric reporting to constructive dialogue that contributes to reforms. Over four months, 10 journalists participated in a fellowship designed to emphasize ethical and impactful storytelling, resulting in 32 stories in sectors such as health, security, education, and procurement at both national and subnational levels, highlighting ethical practices and accountability.

Voice2Rep Nigeria
Our Voice2Rep campaign continues to support young Nigerian artists to use their music as a tool for advocacy, focusing on gender inclusion, digital rights and democratic norms. By equipping these artists with the skills and confidence to address issues like data protection, free expression, and government accountability, the campaign has created a ripple effect of awareness and action across creative communities. We have released five albums to date, including GEN WOKE, Daughter of Gaia, FOR HER, In These Present Times, and This is the Truth – Cyber Culture.
