ACCOUNTABILITY INCUBATOR FOR CHANGEMAKERS

The Accountability Incubator in Nigeria trains socially-conscious young Nigerians whose innovations focus on solving important governance issues. These young accountapreneurs effect change in 3 ways: seeking inclusion for marginalized groups, providing access to education for under-served communities, and holding the government accountable. Through a series of physical and virtual trainings as well as network-building Friendraiser events, we support them to implement their ideas for greater accountability and transparency in communities.

Moses Albert from in Edo state has established the iCare Club, a safe space for victims of child sexual and gender-based violence. He works across 4 schools with 121 members and has trained 20 teachers on identifying and dealing with child sexual abuse. Meanwhile, Nurudeen Temilola Yusuf is working on The Police Duty Solicitor’s Scheme, a project geared towards reducing the excessive use of pre-trial detention by providing free legal advice to suspects at police stations. He has so far assisted participated in 214 cases, securing the release of at least 400 detainees in Lagos state.
